KT UniExpo visitors can get some advice on how to study abroad and how to get local or international sponsorship
A new trend is emerging in the UAE’s higher education sector: experts say more and more universities now offer “multi-city, study abroad options” that allow students to travel as part of their course requirements.
According to educators who spoke at the fourth KT UniExpo, universities have become more creative in arranging study abroad programs for students eager to try new things and experience cultures from around the world.
“I’m not talking about traveling as a hobby, like an adventure, like meeting new people, new countries, new cuisines and new cultures. The options for exploring this multi-city as a student are very different and important. This Exactly why many universities…are offering this international travel and study option,” said Zawahar Siddique, Dean and Head of Blended Learning at Westford University College, “
The whole purpose is not just for fun and adventure, he said. For some universities it is part of the curriculum, for others it is an option.
“But we need to first find out from our students if they really want to do it,” Siddiq said. “[We have to consider] How many universities offer this service and how do you take advantage of it? You don’t want to go to a country if the weather is something you can never get used to. You don’t want to go to a university where academics are the highest requirement and there are no facilities like sports or anything else to satisfy your passion. “
most popular destination
On Friday, KT UniExpo exhibitors turned their focus to the most popular international study destinations.
“Most of the students coming today are concentrated in the UK, US and Canada. This is a trend we have seen in the Middle East over the past six months,” said Zuhaib Tufail Khan, vice president of LeapScholar.
“New countries like the Netherlands, Italy, the Czech Republic or Georgia have been accepting medical programs. So that’s what we’re seeing in school partnerships as well,” he added.
For those wanting to study medicine, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland are the most popular options, in addition to the US, UK and Canada.
“But it’s hard to get in. So other options in Europe include Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy, Spain, Malta, etc.,” said Dr. Muhammad Yousuf Qadri, CEO of Qadri International Education Consulting.
He added that there was “good demand” for medical courses. “But because medicines are not readily available and expensive, we focus on providing the best solution based on an individual’s performance and budget.”
Study Abroad Tips
Dr. Qadri shares some advice for those looking to explore study abroad opportunities:
- Start your application at least one year in advance.
- Do your own research and don’t rely on one destination or one university because you never know who will accept you.
- Even if you are accepted, you may not be able to obtain a visa – so there are always options.
what students say
Young people who showed up on the first day of KT UniExpo were able to get a glimpse of college life thanks to the college students and career advisors on site.
Attendees were also able to get some advice on local and international sponsorship and financial aid opportunities.
“The questions students are asking are what are the requirements? What is the university admissions process? What is the future of Canadian University Dubai (CUD), or can they transfer to Canada, what are the advantages?” shared Rizwan, an international business student at CUD.
