UAE residents begin to receive new UAE ID cards-News

[ad_1]

Even with new features and designs, Emirates ID fees remain the same.

According to the country’s business and typing center, a small number of residents have begun to receive “new and improved” UAE ID cards since the end of June this year.

The Federal Identity and Citizenship Administration (ICA) announced a new version of the ID card on Saturday as part of the “transition to an upgraded ID and passport generation.”

ICA reminded that even with new features and designs, Emirates ID fees will remain unchanged.

A senior official stated that the new card will be issued to people whose ID cards have expired; and that those who are missing or damaged are required to be replaced. However, it is recommended that residents continue to use the old card until it expires.

Shamim Yusuf, general manager of the Al Nahda Business Center, told Khaleej Times that some of their customers have already received new ID cards.

“From May to June or so, there was a delay in receiving the physical copy of the card-whether it was a renewal or a new application. In these cases, the digital version of the UAE ID was issued instead. However, by the end of June, we Seeing that our customers are receiving new copies of their ID cards,” Youssef said.

“I think the delay in delivery is due to Covid-19 because the authorities want to avoid people gathering at the post office. Having said that, for all government-related services, residents can seamlessly use the old copy of the UAE ID. Some are related to banking services. The problem.”

Yusuf said that the new card will be delivered to residents in about 10 to 14 days. “ICA recommends an average waiting period of 14 days; however, people will receive it within 10 days.”

Now, ID cards can also be delivered to your door through the free Tawzea service. Yusuf said this means that residents no longer need to go to the post office near their home.

However, some people have not yet received the new ID.

Iqbal Marconi, CEO of UAE Company House, said: “Our customers have not yet received new copies of UAE ID cards. In the past few months, many applicants have not received new copies. Copies of ID cards; instead, they got digital copies. Recently, applicants started to get old versions of cards. Either way, there is no problem with obtaining government services. We hope our customers will start receiving them soon.”

5 major features of the new ID card

1. Strengthen the protection of invisible data

Now the data can be read through the E-link system with ICA.

2. High-quality cards, longer service life

The card is made of polycarbonate, and the service life is extended to more than 10 years.

3. Integrate 3D photos

The laser printing function will be authenticated by the date of birth of the holder.

4. Advanced technology and process characteristics

The chip of the card will have higher capacity and non-contact data reading function.
