The search for Naija Highlandah began on Thursday, October 6, 2022, with William Lawson’s Highlandahs hitting the main street and bus terminal in Lagos. They visited the Oshodi and Ikeja bus terminals, where they paid the bus fare of random Nigerians to the delight of the beneficiaries and the rest of the public.

During the media launch following the Ikeja street event, journalists and other partners participated in fun challenges and won exciting prizes. Some of the bold and daring guests were also given tattoos and green hair dye in William Lawson’s colour, a “no rules” rebel, disruptive brand that quickly became a toast for Nigerians.

The Challenge will run in two main phases from October 13th to November 12th, 2022. The first phase will focus on recruiting participants and engaging them in the challenge. The competition is open to anyone aged 18 and above who has the courage to take on the challenge.

To register, participants will need to visit the website www.naijahighlandah.com or scan the QR code on any event communication asset at a partner retail store for more information.

They will then receive invitations to participate in challenges held at various outlets. The top 10 who best demonstrate their “Highlandah” attitude will advance to the finals for the Naija Highlandah Ultimate Prize of 2 million naira in cash and a trip to Scotland.

Speaking of the challenge, Bacardi Nigeria Marketing Manager Lerato Makume said: “William Lawson’s has a reputation for breaking the norm, setting its own rules and being blatantly different, just like our liquids. That’s the kind of guy we’re looking for, Someone with a real highland attitude. We know Nigeria is full of highlanders, but only one has the guts to be a Naiya highlander.”

Some of the challenges they have to overcome include humorous challenges such as bottle spins, animal mimicry and balloon games. There are also bold challenges like “Plank no shot” and “Plank with heels”. The contestants’ two unconventional challenges are “Kaku Meter” and “Pull no Spill”. Participants in “Kaku Meter” had to guess the length of the bar—measured by the length of a William Lawson bottle placed horizontally, while “Pull No Spill” assigned each person a branded mug with a full rim. Using a tissue from toilet paper, they have to pull the glass towards themselves without getting the tissue wet. The wetter it is, the easier it is to tear. Competitors will be judged on who gets the cup closest to them within 30 seconds.
