New Delhi [India]October 9 (ANI): Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh will lead a parliamentary delegation to Rwanda to attend the 145th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

A senior parliamentary official told ANI on condition of anonymity that the parliamentary delegation, led by Vice-President Rajya Sabha, will depart today for the Rwandan capital Kigali for the 145th session of the IPU, which will be held from 11 to 15. (IPU) General Assembly October.

Sources from parliament further told ANI that this year, issues such as gender-sensitive parliaments, women’s empowerment, food security and climate change, cyber security, population migration due to war, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), tackling growing hunger The famine will be discussed during the five-day conference in Kigali, Rwanda.

“Under the leadership of Harivansh, the Indian delegation will present and defend India’s views and efforts on these issues,” the source said.

Previously, Harivansh went to Jakarta to attend the 8th G20 Speakers Summit with the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Ombira.

At the summit, Harivansh spoke on “social inclusion, gender equality and women’s empowerment” at a meeting of G20 speakers in the Indonesian capital Jakarta on Friday.

In Jakarta, Vice President Rajya Sabha met with his Korean counterpart Kim Young Joo and stressed the importance of the overall relationship between India and the Republic of Korea. (ANI)
