The Emirates Schools Agency (ESE) has formed the Taaleem Committee to target principals and teachers in public schools. The council will involve education professionals in decision-making.

The move is in response to instructions from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The Taaleem Committee, which will be overseen by Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology and Chair of the UAE School Institutions, will consist of three committees: the School Leadership Committee, the Teachers Committee and the Young Teachers Committee.

Their goal is to involve education professionals in developing programs to improve academic outcomes. The council will also support key decisions within the organization. In addition, they will help find and research effective and innovative solutions to challenges in the academic field. These committees include educational representatives from public schools operated by ESE.

Sarah Al Amiri said that the Taaleem Council represents the vital role of education professionals in their efforts to achieve educational goals. The initiative is based on the importance of involving them in the development of innovative educational programmes and policies to ensure their effective participation in efforts to develop the nation’s public education system and increase its competitiveness at the global level.

The School Leadership Council will consist of 14 members, including two principals from each emirate. It will involve school leaders in the decision-making process, develop institutional characteristics and policies, develop school-level organizational frameworks, and involve public school principals in the development of school operating systems.

The committee is open to all ESE employees, regardless of nationality. The Council will be renewed every two academic years. The ESE has set several conditions for those wishing to join the council, including that the principal must be in charge of his job and hold a professional licensure certificate, as well as at least three years of principal work experience.

Faculty Councils are designed to involve faculty in the decision-making process, develop institutional profiles and policies, actively promote academic development and student progress, and engage faculty in shaping the future.

The council will consist of 14 members, two from each emirate. Teachers can nominate themselves, or they can be nominated by school divisions and school leaders. Those wishing to join the council must have professional and professional licensure certificates and 5-10 years of experience.

The Young Teachers Council will target teachers with 1-4 years of teaching experience, provided the applicant is under the age of 30 and has received an assessment that exceeded expectations in the previous school year. The Council will consist of seven members, one from each emirate. The committee aims to involve young teachers in the decision-making process and to draw on characteristics and institutional policies to make the teaching profession one of the leading professions in the country.
