From Abu Dhabi to Guangzhou, China: Etihad Airways inaugural flight

Abu Dhabi: Etihad Airways launched its first scheduled flight between Abu Dhabi and Guangzhou. The maiden flight EY868​​ took off from Abu Dhabi last night after a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by representatives of the Chinese Embassy in the UAE, Abu Dhabi Airports Company, Miral Asset Management and Etihad Airways Group.

To celebrate Guangzhou’s reputation as the “spiritual home of Cantonese cuisine”, and to appreciate the multiculturalism of Etihad’s in-house hospitality team, the event featured a range of culinary delights, including chefs from Etihad Airways, Murray Reason, and Executive Director of Capital Hospitality. Flight EY868​​ marks the launch of regular flights between Abu Dhabi and Guangzhou, expanding Etihad Airways’ network to 67 destinations in 45 countries. The new twice-weekly service will operate on a two-class Boeing 777.

You can fly from Abu Dhabi to Guangzhou on Mondays and Fridays and back on Wednesdays and Sundays. Flight time is approximately 7 hours and 25 minutes. Direct flights from Abu Dhabi start from Dh5,500 one way.
