What is Perseus?

The Perseid meteor shower is an annual astronomical event that can be observed from the earth with the naked eye. The objects that make up the display are particles from the Perseus cloud, which is a small amount of regular space dust sprinkled from the tail of Comet Swift-Tuttle.

They are named “Perseus” because according to the trajectory, they seem to come from Perseus. While we are making fun, we might as well go all the way and take a brief look at the Greek mythology-Perseus is named after a Greek demigod, the half-human and half-human son of Zeus, famous for his work, slamming monsters, slashing Lost Medusa’s snake head and rescued Andromeda from the sea monster Xitus.

Between July 17 and August 24, dozens of meteors crossed the upper limit of the Earth’s atmosphere, casting long kaleidoscope tails, and bursting fireballs against the background of the dark night sky.

The intensity of showers is always the highest around mid-August, and the climax of this year is expected to be on August 12.
