Summit affirms importance of dialogue, consultation, trust and equal partnership

Astana: The UAE participated in the 6th Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Summit, which concluded today in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

The summit’s closing declaration affirmed the importance of dialogue, consultation, trust and equal partnership among member states to achieve peace, security, stability and sustainable development in Asia.

The summit also saw negotiations to gradually transform the conference into an international organization, with member states agreeing to strengthen cooperation to find solutions to the challenges of the 21st century.

Addressing the summit as head of the UAE delegation, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei praised Kazakhstan’s efforts during its chairmanship of AsiaInfo from 2020 to 2022.

He also congratulated the Central Asian countries for extending the term of their rotating presidency for two years, congratulated Kuwait on becoming a member of CICA, and expressed appreciation for the efforts of the participating countries.

In his speech, Al Mazrouei emphasized that the world is in a transition phase and affirmed the importance of promoting cooperation, cohesion and coexistence to maintain the economic ecosystem.

He also highlighted the UAE’s foreign policy, which is based on respect for international law and principles, such as respect for sovereignty, promotion of dialogue and amicable resolution of conflicts.

The UAE minister highlighted the UAE’s efforts to expand its role in addressing various global issues, including climate change, promoting technology and economic prosperity.

He also highlighted the country’s effective contributions in helping to reverse climate change, such as hosting the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) headquarters, launching the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative, diversifying investments in renewable energy and clean energy, host the annual Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, and host the eighth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Al Mazrouei noted that women’s participation in issues related to peace and security is equally important for achieving peace in the 21st century.

The UAE minister concluded by stressing the importance of strengthening communication among member states to enhance friendship, support the UAE in tackling climate action, and promote regional and international peace and dialogue.

During the visit, Mazroui held meetings with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Mongolian Deputy Prime Minister Amar Saihan Sambuyan and Turkmenistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rasit Meredo. bilateral meeting.

The meeting discussed strengthening the overall bilateral relationship between the UAE and each country, especially in the areas of economy, investment, transport, food security and logistics.

The UAE delegation included Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al Ariqi, UAE Ambassador to Kazakhstan, and several senior officials from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
