Sheikha Mozah welcomed the guests and applauded the women in tech community for their extraordinary efforts to empower women through technology and for launching initiatives aimed at increasing their opportunities for equal participation and excellence in tech.

In her opening remarks, Sheikha Mozah stressed the importance of continuing to empower women in various fields, especially in the tech industry. Sheikha Mozah also talked about how technology has increased opportunities for women, enabling them to achieve their aspirations while making a positive difference to their communities. She highlighted the importance of communities adopting new technologies and providing accessibility training for women in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and blockchain to expand their participation in the field.

The UAE has laws and legal frameworks in place to provide equal opportunities for women and contribute to the overall development of the country. The UAE leadership’s commitment to women’s empowerment enables them to assume leadership roles in all fields. In 2019, Sheikha Mozah became the first woman to hold the position of Lieutenant Pilot with Dubai Police.

At the ceremony, Sheikha Mozah presented the Aspiring Teen Award to Nitasha Pillay, a South African student majoring in Marketing and Information Systems Technology and Networking at Kwa-Zulu Natal University. Sheikha Mozah bint Marwan highlighted the need to support youth and help them set goals at this stage of development.

Ayumi Moore Aoki, Founder and CEO of Women in Tech Global Movement, said: “Women in Tech organizes the Women in Tech Awards every year as part of its commitment to bridging the gender gap in tech. The awards honor the talented and innovative women who are making a real difference in technology. .”

Aoki expressed her deepest gratitude to Sheikha Mozah bint Marwan Al Maktoum for her generous sponsorship of the Global Women in Tech Awards and announced her full support for the next edition of the Aspiring Teen Awards.

The global event recognizes the outstanding achievements of women in eight different categories. Prior to the event, the Women in Tech community hosted regional awards representing different regions of the world: Asia Pacific, Latin America, Middle East and North Africa, Europe, Africa and the Americas.
