Abu Dhabi Foreign Experts Court achieves 90% resolution rate

He stressed that the judiciary is interested in providing a flexible mechanism for resolving disputes involving foreign investors, thus establishing the first foreign expert court in May 2019. Pursuant to Federal Decree No. 10 of 2017, which amended certain provisions of the Civil Procedure Code, the legislator established a judicial chamber consisting of a judge and two local (UAE citizens) or international (foreigners) experts.

The above-mentioned legislative text provides that “the Minister of Justice or the President of the local judiciary, each within the scope of its competence”, may refer all or part of the cases under the jurisdiction of the main chambers provided for in this Act to one or more chambers by a Judge-led, assisted by two local or international experts.
