Sharjah Women’s Sports Club fencers win three medals at Emirates Fencing Federation Championships

Sharjah Women’s Sports Club’s fencing team won two golds and one bronze at the UAE Fencing Federation Championships in the U-17 and U-20 categories at Asma Bint Al Numan Hall in Dubai.

Habiba Islam performed flawlessly, winning two gold medals after winning the Sabre and Foil finals in the U-20 competition. Afra Al Balushi took bronze in the same category of Sabres.

Eleven fencers from the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club participated in the tournament. Sheikha Al Zaabi, Lamar Al Nahla, Habiba Islam, Shamm Al Hammadi, Aisha Khalifa, Nadia Jassim, Afra Al Balushi, Maha Al Serkal, Afra Al Shataf, Anoud Nabil and Maryam Abdullah are members of the team.

The Sharjah Women’s Sports Club’s East Central basketball team continues to compete in the Women’s Open Championship, which started last week.

The club’s basketball team includes Alyazia Sultan, Amal Bin Haider, Alia Al Naqbi, Alia Al Suwaidi, Shalin Shalika, Yasmine Yazid, Suhaila Abbas, Nina Ninkovic, Maryam Adel, Rawda Muhammad, Maitha Mubarak and Nour Ali.

Sharjah Women’s Sports Club Centre prevailed with a 53-48 victory over Ballers Nation. Belqis Khamis, Duaa Bassam, Tarifa Suhail, Mariam Jassim, Amani Mohammed, Suha Ben Taher, Mayad Mohammed, Latifa Seif, Noura Mohammed, Taif Issa and Nariman Rawabeh were part of the team.

The team couldn’t produce a similar result in Game 2, as they lost 39-49 to Champion Academy.

The Sharjah Women’s Sports Club’s Eastern Region team also played their second game, beating Dubai Tribes 33-44.

Halima Said, Jamila Mohammed, Hamda Ali, Mariam Ali, Anoud Mohammed, Karen Nabila, Sharifa Omar, Marwa Mohammed, Mariam Omar, Anoud Omar and Charmaine Solit are the colors of the Eastern Region team.

Sharjah Women’s Sports Club basketball coach Ahmed Halfavi said the team had a good start to the season despite injuries to three key players.

“The players showed great defensive skills in the game, which will definitely boost their performance in the upcoming tournament. The level of play is high as the top four basketball academies are all in contention,” added Halfavi .

SWSC shooters perform better

Yasmin Tahlak and Ghaya Al Shuhail are members of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club shooting team, who represent the UAE at the current World Shooting Championships in Egypt.

Yasmin scored 607.2 points in the 10-meter air rifle competition. Yasmin’s performance at the last World Championship improved from her previous performance, where she scored 589.4 points. Ghaya also fared better, scoring 542 points in the air pistol, beating her 539 points in the previous event.

Meanwhile, the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club table tennis team participated in the Women’s League Championship at the Al Orouba Club in Fujairah.

Noura Al Mazmi, Reem Adel, Ahlam Adel, Asma Ibrahim, Shamma Aref, Yara Al-Damisi, Hessa Saud, Shahd Aref, Farah Islam and Nawel Al Hosani representing the club, Shamsa Aref, Amal Al Hammadi, Sheikha Al Marzouqi , Maryam Al Suwaidi and Prasna Devi.
