Aljamain Sterling has been hated by a small segment of the MMA community for a full year after winning the UFC bantamweight title by disqualification. His opponent Petr Yan illegally put his knee on his head. Yan fans (and Arjo haters) insist that Sterling has exaggerated the damage done to his knee by pretending to be the champion.
The hatred finally started to dissipate after Sterling defeated Yan in the rematch. But now Sterling faces more hatred from another group of MMA fans who are appalled that “Funkmaster” is proudly associated with Andrew Tate.
Who is Tate? It depends on who you ask. Some called him a “controversial social media influencer”. Others prefer to refer to him as an “Eastern European porn tycoon”. Others just say he’s a misogynistic POS.
No matter how you want to describe it, Sterling found himself attacked by a number of people – many of them former supporters – after sharing photos with Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan in Abu Dhabi.
“Top G will never die!” Sterling wrote in the post. “It’s good to cut it down with you.”
He then made the whole situation a million times worse by defending one of Tate’s arguments that it was women’s responsibility to make “safe decisions” so they wouldn’t be raped.
100% correct. Others say, with all the mental health issues, and the predators out there, why would you be walking home alone at odd hours of the night, in sketchy places?
This is the responsibility he mentioned to make safety decisions, which makes sense, although rape cannot be justified https://t.co/kAuC0QsPzp

It’s not good for anyone. So now a man who is set to compete for the world title next Saturday is spending his Sunday trying to convince people he is not a rape apologist.
200 characters. Trust me, I’ve explained the nausea. But you don’t care about this. You’d rather read and draw conclusions about what I’m claiming versus what I’m actually saying. Again, more than 200 characters are explained multiple times for clarity.

You’re right now, they’re massively trying to put words in my tweets that have never been written. From a guy with 14+ sisters. Seriously, how do these people sound like I’m encouraging this, or that it’s the victim’s fault? madman.
— Ajaman Sterling (@funkmasterMMA) October 16, 2022
Right, that is it. So by this, you agree that there are dangerous, perverted and sick people out there, right? So why encourage men, women and children to put themselves at risk because we want people to do the right thing? You miss the point.
A sick person is a sick person. that’s it. https://t.co/RgfTnnP5C3

Thank you, that’s fair. I don’t agree with him, but some of what he said wasn’t completely over the top or crazy. But everyone wants to be angry about something.Again, I don’t support rape and somehow “as safe as possible” is twisted https://t.co/u8672QWk9t

Finally, Aljo pointed out that he’s not the only fighter who supports Tate.
I practice self-defense and spread love. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn’t know me at all. I am thankful for my true fans. Thank you. https://t.co/xHFye26yti

He’s right: Andrew Tate has been making his way into the MMA world for the past few months, trying to use the influence of UFC fighters and boxers to stay relevant. Sadly, it has been working. It’s nice to assume that’s because the fighters don’t bother to study Tate after being impressed by his charisma. But Tate’s greasy behavior was always brought up, only to be dismissed by his supporters.
Aljamain Sterling spent most of the day questioning the authenticity of several videos Showing Tate beating women, and pointed out that Tate was only under investigation for human trafficking Romanian police, not charged.
We could discredit this with a “full” length video, although I agree that some things hold it back until you hear it in full to hear the full statement. But I really don’t care that much haha.
If you want him to be the bad guy, the content is there, and vice versa https://t.co/jfRNfEpwuJ

Rather than trying to argue about those huge red flags, we’ll just point to the text on Tate’s own website, where he sells coaching and self-serve packages aimed at young people. One of them is the PHD program, which stands for “Pimp Hoe Degree.” The package description has been removed.
“I’ve been running a webcam studio for nearly a decade,” Tate wrote on the website. “I had over 75 girls working for me and my business model was different from 99% of webcam studio owners. At the time over 50% of my staff were actually my girlfriends, of all my girlfriends, None of them were in the adult entertainment industry before they knew me.”
“Literally, that’s my job,” he continued. “My job is to meet a girl, go on a date, sleep with her, test her qualities, make her fall in love with me, make her do whatever I say, and put her on a webcam so we can get rich together It doesn’t matter whether you agree or disagree with what I do with their loyalty, obedience, and love for me. You can’t refuse the result, the result is simple. My girlfriend will do it for me, better than 99.9% men and their wives do more for them.”
“So, who is Andrew Tate?” reads another section of the site. “Andrew Tate is a world kickboxing champion who owns and operates strip clubs and webcam studios. He has over 75 girls working for him and he created a system that allows you to get girls quickly and easily without breaking the bank .”
“You want to learn how to get a weird girl from a pickup artist,” it continued, “or learn how to build an army of women so loyal to you that you have as many girls as possible?” Yes, he has a foolproof system for retaining women, getting them to do what you say and respect you without taking up or wasting a lot of your time.”
If that’s the kind of person Ajaman Sterling wants to associate with or support, that’s his choice. But it’s a terrible thing, and people will judge him for it, no matter how hard he defends it on Twitter.
