Pravasi Bhartiya Divas ready to welcome Indian diaspora in UAE to Indore

DUBAI – The 17th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) will welcome a large delegation of Indian diaspora from the UAE into Indore, India.

In addition to inviting Indian diaspora in the UAE to the PBD Congress, other details on registration and travel emerged during a meeting with a delegation from the Indian Foreign Ministry in Dubai on Sunday.

Heads of Indian community groups in the UAE also met, expressing their solidarity and enthusiasm for participating in the Indian government’s flagship event.

The theme of the 2023 BPD Congress, “Diaspora: India’s Reliable Partner for Progress in Amritkar,” will be held from January 8 to 10, 2023, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi Unveil the event on January 9, 2023.

Anurag Bhushan, Joint Secretary of Overseas Indian Affairs of the MEA and former Consul General of India in Dubai, said of how the event has become a platform for communication with the Indian diaspora abroad: The biggest gathering of the Indian diaspora. Talking about keeping registration fees reasonable to support maximum participation, Bhushan added: “We recognise that in order to encourage participation, costs must be reasonable. The event’s website is already up and running. The registration fee is only a fraction of the full cost that will be incurred. small portion.”

“But we’ve also made sure that we have more discounts for those who register in advance or for those who register in groups. Other costs like transportation and accommodation remain fairly reasonable. The Madhya Pradesh government is also working hard to ensure that our fellow Indians stay as comfortable as possible. “

Elaborating on the readiness for the event, he said, “This event is for, by and for the community. The structure of this event will be developed with advice and advice from the entire Indian community.”

Negotiate events with airlines and charter flights

Discussions will focus on topics relevant to the Indian community and the issues they deal with.

Bhushan said: “There are direct flights from Dubai to Indore and multiple flights from Delhi as well as other big cities in India. We are in touch with the Ministry of Civil Aviation. We are also in touch with other airlines. I think if (the number of people) Enough and we’ll be able to do something about (even charter) flights.”

During the congress, selected Indians abroad will also receive the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award for their contributions to various fields in India and abroad.

Dr. Aman Puri, Consul General of India in Dubai, said: “Everyone wants to enthusiastically participate in the Bhartiya Pravasi Divas (PBD) 2023. We are looking forward to it and we are sure that the largest delegation will enter the PBD, which will be from the UAE. The various associations and their Representatives assured us that they will encourage their members to participate as a group, which is very convenient for everyone. We will also be discussing with airlines about operating special charter flights.”

With the signing of CEPA, the commercial and investment relationship between the UAE and India is on the rise, and we are at a historical inflection point in the relationship. So the participation of the Indian community in PBD will really reflect the very strong relationship between the two countries.”

Senior community leaders, such as Kamal Vachani of the Almaya Group, group director and partner, also pointed out how community members are eager to participate in the upcoming event at scale. He said: “We are still deciding on the numbers. But this is a big deal because (it is happening in person) four years later… the Indian diaspora is looking forward to it. The UAE has such a large Indian population. Other Global Organization of Indian Origin (GOPI) members attended.”
