Alumni Association Hosts Annual Homecoming Tailgate | Entertainment

[ad_1]

The Alumni Association’s Homecoming tailgate event on Monday from 5-7pm was a success, and it doesn’t even need words to admit it.

The smiles and sheer joy on the faces of students and staff said the event was another year of achievement.

The ConocoPhillips Alumni Center is exploding, friendships are being formed, free food and drinks are being enjoyed, and cornhole competitions are fierce.

The event has become an annual event due to the constant feeling of family and community it brings. Bringing students of all ages, majors and many different personalities together to celebrate the Cowboys, have the opportunity to meet new people, and be full of excitement is what coming home is all about.

Many students either never knew the event existed, heard about it briefly and never went, or never knew about it in the first place. It’s also more difficult given that previous years have been cancelled or changed due to COVID-19.

This is definitely not the case this year, and everyone who says they’ve never been before wishes they could. There’s nothing quite like a tailgate, especially away from the new-found fall chill, the abundance of free food and snacks, and new faces to find yourself in the conversation.

“My family is orange, so I’ve been here since I was a kid,” says Libby G., a junior at Oregon State University. I’m just going with my parents from an adult perspective. I know that when I go to college, I want to have a student experience, so it’s an honor and a cool thing to be able to help. “

Many students also help in a number of ways, including handing out raffle tickets when students walk in and instructing them on where to put their tickets after filling them out, making sure the bounce house stays upright and everyone is safe, taking pictures of people who want to be in photo booths Front pose, and even want to be a cornhole buddy if anyone needs it.

Among the students enjoying free food and having fun with friends were OSU royalty, including Miss Ohio State, Homecoming Queens and Kings, as well as other Homecoming candidates and their escorts. They are all energetic and happy to have the privilege of speaking with different students on behalf of OSU.

Senior Homecoming Queen Mia Rucker is a member of the pom squad, is president of the Chi Omega Fraternity, and is involved in a campus club called Inspiring Health Professionals.

“It’s my first time here and it’s been a lot of fun,” Rucker said. “I think it does feel like a tailgate, and I think that’s where it’s really fun to just chat and hang out.” A great start. I’ve definitely hit the corn hole and I did win. ”

A junior returning student candidate, Corrine Kissel, said the experience was “incredibly humbling”. She also shared what it’s been like to speak to visitors, alumni, students on behalf of the university, “It feels so good to be able to share my love for the university.”

Student interaction with others is just the purpose and everything is executed well. Pistol Pete even joined the party by showing off his wild dance moves at the bounce house. The Alumni Association has picked a welcome event to pave the way for an exciting back-to-school week.
