Emerge, a joint venture between Masdar and EDF, has signed an agreement with Khazna Data Centers, the largest network of hyperscale data centers in the MENA region, to develop a ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) plant to power Khazna’s new data center Masdar city.
The plant has received a solar photovoltaic (PV) self-regulating power generation license from the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy and will have an installed capacity of 7 megawatts peak (MWp) and will provide power for the Khazna Abu Dhabi 6 (AUH 6) facility. Emerge will provide a complete turnkey solution for the project, including finance, design, procurement, construction, operations and maintenance, for a period of 25 years, according to a statement.

The solar PV plant will bring the company’s portfolio in Abu Dhabi to over 25 MWp in operation and delivery. Emerge announced in July that it had signed an agreement to deploy a rooftop solar system at Abu Dhabi’s SeaWorld theme park, which is currently under construction on Yas Island.
The Masdar City facility, scheduled to open in 2023, is Khazna’s second data center in the city. Khazna currently operates several hyperscale data centers in the UAE and plans to expand its network globally. – arab trade news agency
