DSCD census takers will be actively involved in the general listing phase, which ends on November 20. During this period, they will collect data on the nationality of the head of the household, the number of family members, and the age, education and professional qualifications of each member. , contact information and contact language to ensure they receive the self-calculation in the language they speak.
Field personnel will collect data on buildings, including name, type, number of floors, entrances and occupancy, whether residential or commercial. Information about housing will include the number, characteristics, function, status and quantity of rooms, while facility data will include name, type, activity, number of workers and employees and their nationalities.
The department called on the emirate’s nationals and residents to cooperate with the census team to provide correct data, which will be kept confidential and will not be published or shared with anyone under current law. DSCD noted that field workers will carry ID cards and wear special vests bearing the DSCD and Sharjah Census 2022 logos.
After the listing phase is completed, the automatic counting phase begins, where all nationals and residents of the emirate must complete the census form.
To ensure the accuracy and quality of the data collection process, DSCD recently held a three-day workshop for 300 enumerators on how to engage with the public during the comprehensive listing phase and how to connect using the department’s app and digital tablet to a secure platform that enables them to do their jobs efficiently and in a safe manner.
Abdullah Al Kadeed, Director of Statistics at DSCD, said: “The full listing phase is the most critical and important period in the census as it exemplifies our experience in overcoming the challenges we faced before. Sharjah is home to expatriates from 180 countries. home to some who speak neither English or Arabic, nor use social media in either language. That’s why we need to reach out to them, raise their awareness of the census, and emphasize that their participation is beneficial Yes. We need to go beyond the language barrier and send them self-calculations in the language they speak.”
He added: “We call on all nationals and residents, families and individuals, SMEs and private sector companies in the emirate to work with the census team as it benefits everyone and helps drive the development of services in the emirate. The entity provides accurate data and comprehensive information to develop development plans and strategies to support all segments of the emirate’s community. Every piece of information provided to the census team helps to serve the community, and community members are members of the Sharjah Integrated Development Plan Indispensable part.”
The latest Sharjah census was launched in September under the theme “You Count”. Preliminary results will be presented to the Sharjah Ruler and key government entities in March 2023. The public can also access the survey results through the Sharjah government website and open data platforms.
