Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2023, the leading travel and tourism showcase in the Middle East, has launched “Best Booth Construction Incorporating Sustainability Initiatives” for the 2023 Exhibitor Awards.
The award recognises exhibitors who have made extraordinary efforts to reduce their environmental impact and support the UAE’s net zero commitment
ATM 2023 will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 1-4 May 2023, and will feature the Sustainability category for the first time in next year’s annual Exhibitor Awards.
The decision recognizes exhibiting organizations that have considered the environmental impact their booth will have and their efforts to reduce and or offset their carbon footprint.
Danielle Curtis, ME Exhibition Director, Arabian Travel Market, said: “We realize that the Arabian Travel Market has put a lot of effort and investment into designing, building and equipping the booth.
“Since its launch, the ATM Exhibitor Awards program has not only recognized these efforts, but has also encouraged exciting, fresh and creative ideas. For our 2023 campaign, we wanted to include a category that aligns with our official theme ‘Working towards Net Zero’ creates synergies and, in addition, the category supports the UAE’s wider net zero commitment and RX’s mission to achieve net zero carbon activities by 2040.”
“The Sustainability Awards will be open to all exhibitors who can nominate themselves based on certain criteria clearly laid out in the ATM Operations Manual,” Curtis added.
Standards will include the use of biodegradable, reusable and recyclable materials for stand construction and functionality, digital marketing materials, limited single-use plastics, reduced freight and logistics emissions, waste management, and recycling and/or reuse of stand and more. projects, as well as carbon offset initiatives.
The award will be judged by the ATM operations team with advice and support from independent sustainability experts prior to the show, and the winner will be announced on-site along with other award categories. These will include ATM Travel Tech’s Best Booth Design, Best Business Booth, Best Booth Features and Best Booth.
The Best Booth Design Award has also been revamped and is now more inclusive, with two awards, one for booths above and one for booths smaller than 150 square meters. For booths over 150 square meters, ATM has added additional criteria that will consider pre-show and on-site promotions to attract visitors.
Judging for these awards will take place as usual on the second day of the show (May 2), and all winners will be announced on the third day (May 3), with a jury of trade journalists and industry commentators.
“As always, the jury has a very tough job comparing creative design, people skills and business-friendly appeal. So for the 2023 awards, as well as the winners, we will publish up to five in each category Shortlisted booths in recognition of their tremendous efforts,” Curtis added.
ATM 2023 will provide global travel trade professionals with a vision for the tourism industry in the years to come by sharing new and insightful commentary from experts from around the world, creating significant business opportunities over the four-day event.
ATM 2022 attracted over 24,000 visitors and hosted over 31,000 participants across 10 halls at the Dubai World Trade Centre, including 1,600 exhibitors and attendees from 151 countries. – arab trade news agency
