The seventh annual Maritime Standard Tanker Conference will be held on November 16 at Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai. The plan reflects the situation facing tanker shipping after two years of the pandemic, as well as recent unprecedented geopolitical shockwaves.
Additionally, tanker operators face the ongoing challenge of adapting their fleets to meet stringent new environmental regulations and decarbonize operations. This will be the focus of the second session, on the theme “Tanker Shipping Faces Environmental Challenges”.
Conference Editor Clive Woodbridge said: “Tanker shipping must re-evaluate every aspect of its operations and the technologies deployed on its ships to meet challenging new environmental goals. Suggested topics for inclusion in this meeting include discussion of EEXI and CII regulations and their impact on tanker shipping; dual fuel operations; LNG fuel retrofits; the role of classification societies and flag classes in keeping tankers environmentally friendly; and developing environmentally friendly fuel depots network.
Speakers confirmed so far for Session 2 to be moderated by Nijoe Joseph of Stephenson Harwood include: Simon Bonnett, Chief Maritime Officer, International Registry (UK); Anders Ostergaard, Group CEO, Monjasa; Chris Peters, CEO, Tristar Maritime Logistics ; Rajeev Agarwal, CEO and General Manager, Essar Ports; Emad AlHumam, Senior Vice President, Corporate Services, International Maritime Industry; Franck J Kayser, Chief Operating Officer, Asyad Shipping Company; Pawan Sahni, DNV Business Development Director Middle East and Africa; and Islamic P&I Association CEO Amir Mosadeghi.
Woodbridge added: “Tanker owners and operators need to address a number of key issues in the area of environmental compliance.
