Authorities have carried out 20 security and aerial reconnaissance missions to date
For a year, the Ajman Police Air Support Centre has been using drones to improve safety, support field operations and monitor traffic.
Authorities posted on social media that it had flown 20 security and aerial reconnaissance missions, 299 traffic missions and had flown 13,598 minutes since its inception.
Captain Rashid Al Attar said the air support centre was helping to find the cause of the traffic jam. In the event of a traffic jam caused by an accident, aircraft are deployed to understand its severity.
They are equipped with the latest technology to take pictures and recognize license plates from 1000 meters away. In addition to this, they can be up to 15 km away from the controller.
The Air Support Centre concluded that non-compliance with lanes was one of the most common violations, in addition to overtaking on the shoulder.
