Robbie Coltrane dies of six diseases including organ failure

[ad_1]

Robbie Coltrane died of six diseases including organ failure.

The Daily Mirror revealed on Sunday (23/10/22) that the “Harry Potter” actor’s death certificate also showed he suffered from diabetes and obesity.

It is understood Robbie, who died on October 14 at the age of 72, had been unwell for years before his death, and the acting veteran had previously spoken out about his “persistent pain”.

Robbie’s death certificate lists his birth name Anthony Robert McMillan and his stage name Coltrane, which he adopted in the 1970s, in tribute to jazz saxophonist John Coltrane.

Robbie’s death was registered by his ex-wife Rhona Gemmell, who said in 2020 he was in pain after the cartilage in his knee disintegrated.

It left the ‘James Bond’ actor in a wheelchair in agony, and he said he didn’t want it on his ‘worst enemy’.

He told the Daily Express in his last interview for 2020: “When I was on National Treasure and Great Expectations, I was battling pain 24 hours a day.

“I don’t have cartilage in my knee. It’s bone on bone.”

Former alcoholic Robbie fought to lose seven stone in 2016 after doctors warned him not to lose weight could make him a ‘lame’.

When he dropped five stones he began to have “constant pain throughout the day” and he said doctors found him “without cartilage in one knee” after an exploratory procedure, adding it was “completely disintegrating”.

In 2020, the “Cookies” actor said he was in some relief after undergoing joint surgery in the US.

He added at the time: “It was horrible. The pain relief and being able to sleep after the surgery changed my life.”

Robbie withdrew from an appearance at London’s Olympia Comic-Con in July, which organizers said was due to his “ongoing ill health”.

Robbie’s agent Belinda Wright announced his death: “My client and friend Robbie Coltrane OBE passed away on Friday, October 14th…Personally, I will remember He is a forever loyal customer.

“Not only was he a great actor, but he was forensically brilliant and witty, and I will miss him after 40 years of being proud to be called his agent.”

She added that the actor was survived by his sister Anne Ray, his children Spencer and Alice, and their mother Lorna Jemmell, a sculptor Robbie died in 1999 Married, but divorced in 2003.
