The 35-year-old actor made his directorial debut in the latest “Rocky” spinoff and explained that he played boxing superstar Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in his first role to showcase Mexico’s take on the sport. influences.
In a press conference promoting the film, Michael, the protagonist who plays Adonis ‘Donnie’ Creed, said: “We’re just looking back, you know, it’s the history of boxing, and Mexican culture is the backbone of the sport. Michael previously revealed that the sports movie was the “perfect” one to bow behind the camera at the right moment of his career.
He said: “For me, it was the perfect time. Growing up on set, in the industry, 20+ years, starting to do background work and extra work, just seeing the scene develop, seeing everyone’s work , to see a real production kick off and I’ve finally gotten to this point in my career where I want to tell a story, not just execute someone else’s vision in front of the camera.
