Emirates News Agency – Local media: UAE’s future smart path

[ad_1]

ABU DHABI, 26th October, 2022 (WAM) — A newspaper in the UAE has praised the country’s smooth highway network connecting the seven emirates, saying it is one of the country’s most tangible assets, the interior of each emirate. So are the roads.
In an editorial on Wednesday, The National said: “Given this advantage, and with an eye toward the future, smart infrastructure projects, such as those using artificial intelligence to monitor traffic, could simplify the flow of traffic at intersections with more sensors. , and will last for a long time. Ways to add to the existing state-of-the-art road network. A highly anticipated rail line is also under construction, and Etihad Rail will connect 11 cities in the UAE.”
In Dubai, projects such as intelligent traffic management systems are keeping pace with wider digitally-driven social realities – with more cars on the road as more people are drawn to live in the UAE and move to its cities .
To meet the future needs of the country, the second phase of the ITS project will begin in a few months. Motorists will soon discover the ease of driving on these roads. Dubai’s first phase has already improved road safety by adding 120 traffic cameras and building a 660-kilometer fiber-optic network that will boost connectivity and communication systems.
We also do a lot of important work to make roads safer. Data shows this reduces road accidents and reduces the time it takes to respond to emergencies.
Soon, the second phase will mark a dramatic change to Dubai’s roadmap, extending the length of roads covered from 480km to over 700km, a feat of engineering and advanced urban planning.
It continued, “This is to be expected for a young country that has never been shy about planning for the future – as evidenced by Dubai’s plans to bring 4,000 driverless taxis to the streets by 2030. One in 20 taxis in the emirate will be driverless by the end of next year.
“The combination of technology and infrastructure will improve the quality of life for countless commuters in the UAE. Last year, nearly 461 million passengers in Dubai used public and shared transport and taxis.”
“Abu Dhabi is moving forward with a pilot program for drone delivery and next month we will likely see the first autonomous taxi minibuses used during the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as the basis for all such innovations It is the fact that good roads are at the heart of how cities function. In this regard, the UAE’s strengths remain immeasurable,” the Abu Dhabi-based daily concluded.
