The capital of the United Arab Emirates is known around the world for its abundance of imported goods.
In Abu Dhabi, you can find Lamborghinis, gold-plated cappuccinos and hundreds of thousands of imported palm trees.
Now you can find Colnago’s high-end road bikes too.
The Italian bike company will open “flagship store On the city’s Hudayriyat Island – a new adventure playground for Abu Dhabi’s growing tourism industry. The 10,000-square-foot, two-story building will provide Current Colnago bikes and historical models. It will also have the world’s first Colnago Caffè, allowing guests to sample Italy’s famous coffee.
If you think cycling (at least Colnago’s “exclusivity and elegance”) doesn’t align with international oil interests, then you’re not in the brand’s camp. In fact, you are also not allied with the city leaders of Hudariat.
It’s not entirely surprising that at least one major bike company sees an opportunity on the island, which officially opened in November 2020. In recent years, city officials have doubled down on their support for cycling — with plans to expand — by building infrastructure and attracting global events.
A ‘point of reference’ for Abu Dhabi cyclists
With its new store, Colnago aims to be “a reference point for all cycling enthusiasts and communities that energize the city of Abu Dhabi,” the company said.
New to Abu Dhabi’s cycling community? That’s not surprising, but its global profile is likely to grow over the next few years.
With an emphasis on fitness and nature in its design, Hudayriyat Island already has 40 kilometers of illuminated bike paths. It is popular with cyclists and runners and has hosted triathlons and obstacle courses, according to the UAE. national news.
The Abu Dhabi Cycling Club broke ground on a new cycling centre on the island in November 2021.Then the first ever Abu Dhabi Bike Festival, will open in November 2022. The festival includes the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships and the inaugural Abu Dhabi Gryffindor.
Clearly, Colnago sees plenty of opportunity here.
Nicola Rosin, CEO of Colnago, said: “We want to have this physical space in a rapidly growing city that will help meet the needs of Abu Dhabi’s cycling enthusiasts, allowing them to experience first-hand the products that have made us cycling ace. .” in a press release.
Colnago’s fancy new dig
With plenty of space in its two-story building, Colnago has grand plans for its new center.
The store will display Colnago bikes for sale, as well as an exhibit of historical models. At Colnago Caffè (because there’s no high-end coffee, what’s a premium bike or Abu Dhabi tour?), guests can relax while enjoying a meal and coffee while watching the game on the big screen.
But this is Abu Dhabi, right? You need to be flashy to stand out here. That’s why the store will also have “advanced technical equipment”. These include a sliding screen that recreates the history of Colnago’s historic models, as well as a cutting-edge bike assembly system. Then there’s the “3D configurator,” with a huge screen (4.8 x 2.7 meters) that allows customers to design their own bikes, Colnago said.
The icing on the cake is the “Works of Contemporary Art” display, designed by Spanish interior architect Pablo Paniagua and his team.
The shop’s recent opening guests include the entire roster of UAD Team Emirates and UAE Team ADQ, including Tadej Pogačar.
“As an organization that prides itself on creating exceptional experiences through expertly crafted bikes, our new store opening in Abu Dhabi represents another important milestone in our Colnago journey as we continue to build our brand globally,” said Rosin.
no doubt.
