The Zayed Charity Marathon, the world’s leading humanitarian event, returns to Abu Dhabi on 19 November.
Zayed Charity Marathon – Abu Dhabi 2022 will be sponsored by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Al Dhafra Ruler’s Representative host area.
The marathon offers routes suitable for participants of all ages and fitness levels. Starting and finishing at the Erth Abu Dhabi Hotel (formerly known as the Armed Forces Officers Club), runners can choose from the 3km Family Fun, 5km Intermediate or 10km Advanced.
Passing through some of Abu Dhabi’s most famous sites, including the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the majestic Wahat Karama Memorial, all proceeds from each entry will be donated directly to an organ donation programme organised by the non-profit ERC .
Lieutenant General Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Senior Organizing Committee of the Zayed Charity Marathon, said: “We are very honoured to announce the return of the Zayed Charity Marathon in Abu Dhabi, which was held as a tribute to the founders of the Zayed Charity Marathon. Yes. This emblematic event is a great opportunity for family and friends to come together, donate to a much-needed cause, honor Emirati traditions and spirit, and enjoy an exhilarating workout in the fresh air. Exciting Landmarks of awe, we go to great lengths to make sure the competition is open and welcoming to all. While we will award prizes for age groups, everyone who participates will be a winner.
The total prize money is AED 1 million and all participants will receive participation medals and T-shirts. Registration for the event is now open.
This inclusive and charitable annual competition was established in 2001 to pay tribute to the country’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed, a passionate humanitarian himself. The marathon represents the UAE’s vision of spreading love and peace around the world, having previously held international marathons in New York, the United States and Egypt.
