Elon Musk says Twitter can’t be a “free hellscape.”
The 51-year-old billionaire published an essay outlining his vision for the company ahead of the deal deadline to close the $44 billion acquisition of the site.
This came after he entered Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters with a kitchen sink and tagged himself “Chief Twit” on the site.
He tweeted a video on Wednesday (10/22/26) of him carrying the sink into the company’s San Francisco office: “Enter Twitter HQ – let the sink in!”
The Tesla billionaire also changed his Twitter profile to use his location as Twitter’s headquarters.
He has until Friday (28.10.22) to finalize his April deal to buy the company after his earlier attempt to back out of the deal, with the Washington Post reporting that Elon could be targeting Twitter’s $7,500 75% fewer employees.
On Thursday (10/22/27), he took to Twitter to outline his motivation for buying the platform and his vision for how to moderate content.
In a tweet titled “Dear Twitter Advertiser,” he wrote: “The reason I bought Twitter is that having a common digital town square is important to the future of civilization, where it can be discussed in a healthy way. All beliefs, without resorting to violence.”
Elon added that social media is likely to be divided into echo chambers of the far right and the far left, which could divide society, warning: “In the relentless pursuit of clicks, many traditional media feed and cater to those polarized Extreme. , because they think it’s what brings in the money, but in doing so they lose the opportunity for dialogue.
