Dubai: Covid-19 safety rules relaxed; capacity, time increase-News

From Thursday, August 12, the hotel can be fully opened.

The Dubai authorities have increased the operational capacity of hotels, restaurants and cafes, as well as wedding and event halls.

According to a notice issued by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) to stakeholders in the hotel industry, the hotel can operate at full capacity from Thursday, August 12.

Restaurants and cafes

They can operate at 80% capacity, and the social distance between tables is reduced from 2 meters to 1.5 meters.

Restaurants can operate according to their business hours before the epidemic, while complying with the permits and guidelines issued by the department. They can extend the entertainment until 3 am.

Entertainment venue

The operating capacity of cinemas, amusement facilities, exhibition halls and museums has increased to 80%.

Business activity

They can operate at 100% capacity and “comply with all commercial activity agreements issued by the department at the same time”.

community activity

Indoor community events can accommodate 2,500 people, and outdoor events can accommodate 5,000 people. Guests do not need to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Entertainment and sporting events

The event capacity has been increased to 60%, and there is no limit to the maximum number of participants. Covid-19 vaccination is not mandatory.

The entertainment of free activities (concerts) is limited to vaccinated participants and can accommodate up to 5,000 people.

Performers from the UAE must be vaccinated. Performers who are not vaccinated must obtain a negative PCR test result within 24 hours of the event.

Institutional events and award ceremonies

The maximum number of participants is 1,000, and there is no mandatory vaccination requirement.

Social events/party

The party’s capacity has been increased to 60% and can accommodate up to 300 people. Vaccination is not mandatory.

The party organizer must commit to taking full responsibility for observing all preventive measures.

In the notice, DTCM warned that preventive measures and procedures need to be fully followed.

Tim Cordon, senior vice president for the Middle East and Africa region of Radisson Hotel Group, described these guidelines as “good news”, saying: “The increase in capacity gives restaurants and hotels the opportunity to attract more customers and take advantage of the space.
