Italy is the third largest global sporting goods supplier to the UAE market

Italy is the world’s third largest sporting goods supplier to the UAE market, exporting an average of €50 million worth of products to the UAE annually. Italy’s global sporting goods exports are worth around 12 billion euros a year, it was revealed Friday at the Dubai Sports Show.

Earlier, Italy inaugurated its national pavilion at Events Dubai, the Middle East’s leading fitness and wellness trade show, which will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Sunday.

Mattar A Tayer, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Sports Commission, visited the Italian Pavilion during his visit to the exhibition. Maria Lucia Martorelli, Deputy Director of the Italian Trade Agency, welcomed Mattar A Tayer at the Italian Pavilion.

The Italian Pavilion, located in DWTC-Zabeel Hall 5, is organized by the Italian Trade Agency in cooperation with Assosport (Association of the Italian Sporting Goods Industry) and supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The pavilion brings together a range of Italian SMEs operating in the health sector and showcases their latest equipment and equipment, from biomedical equipment and tools for water fitness, to trekking poles combined with digital technology for measuring Outdoor activities and food and skin supplements.

Health is increasingly a top priority for consumers around the world, the fitness industry is booming, and more companies are designing products that support and encourage healthy, active lifestyles. Italy promotes health as a way of life and is one of the world leaders in the manufacture of sportswear and sports equipment.

The Italian sports industry has more than 750 companies, employs more than 30,000 direct employees and generates revenues of around 10 billion euros, 70% of which is exported. Foreign customers study the quality of “Made in Italy”, which they know is the guarantee of high quality, high technical level and now sustainable production.

The survey shows that 61% of sporting goods manufacturers spend more than 10% of their total investment on circular economy projects and sustainable development. The sports industry is particularly committed to reducing emissions (56%) and resources/materials used (55%) and reducing the amount of waste and trash (33%).

Maria Lucia Martorelli said: “Italian Trade Agency is very actively involved in global trade fairs, showcasing new products and innovations. This is our second time participating in the Dubai Sports Show to present our latest innovative sporting goods to regional distributors and partners.”

She added, “The UAE is a very important market for Italian companies. This exhibition is a good platform for our company. During the 3-day event, we will have a lot of B2B meetings, which will be helpful in formulating new business Agreement.” Regarding sustainable growth, she said, “Sustainability is the main focus of our transition to green economic growth. Italian companies are bringing more sustainable products and solutions to each trade show. “
