The first International Middle East Conference on Fetal Neonatal Cardiovascular Diseases opened in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
Several local and international experts came together to discuss the latest standards and innovations in fetal and neonatal cardiovascular care.
Held under the auspices of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, the conference was organized by Corniche Hospital and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Israel’s Schneider Children’s Medical Center.
“The recent increase in the paediatric population in the Middle East has led to increased focus on prenatal, infant and paediatric healthcare, along with a surge in government investment in the field,” said Saeed Jaber Al Kuwaiti, Group Chief Executive Officer, Saeha.
The two-day conference will focus on several topics, including the genetics of heart disease, obstetric and maternal health, caring for newborns with heart disease, and social aspects and long-term outcomes of congenital cardiovascular disease in the Middle East.
“This conference will support collaboration between experts from the United States, Israel and the Arab world who are committed to providing the best pediatric healthcare on a global scale,” said Ruth Frey, vice president of global strategy and business development at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
“We are honored to play a role in this inaugural event and expect this collaborative approach to lead to better outcomes for children.”
Dr. Efrat Bron-Harlev, CEO of Schneider Children’s Medical Center in Israel, said the Abraham Accords have created new opportunities for cooperation and exchange in healthcare.
“The result is mutual knowledge sharing, improved patient outcomes and sustainable partnerships for better care,” she said.
