Children 12 years and older, including college students, were vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

More than 1,800 students were vaccinated against Covid-19 in a pop-up vaccination campaign held at Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi.

The five-day event, which began on August 3, was held before the start of the new school year and was a joint effort of the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Education and Knowledge (Adek), the Ministry of Health-Abu Dhabi (DoH), and the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Public Works Health Center, Mubadala Health Center and Yas Shopping Center.

Children 12 years and older, including college students, have been vaccinated against Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19.

Adek Deputy Minister Amer Al Hammadi emphasized that this event aims to ensure the health and safety of the school community.

“As the new school year approaches, we remain committed to letting our students return to the classroom safely,” he said. “In order to further support the national vaccination campaign, we have worked with our partners to open a temporary pop-up vaccination center in Yas Shopping Mall to provide facilities for parents of students 12 years and older to get their children vaccinated before returning to school vaccine.”

In total, 1,870 doses of vaccine were vaccinated within five days, of which 960 women and 910 men were stabbed. There are 434 UAE students and 1,436 foreigners.

“Although vaccination is a mandatory requirement for students aged 16 and over to return to school, it is optional for students aged 12-15,” Al Hammadi said. In the temporary center, 1289 students are between 12 and 16 years old, and 581 students are 16 years and older.

Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, CEO of Mubadala Health, noted that another event will be held to manage the second dose.

“Our cooperation with Adek to establish a vaccination center in Yas Mall is based on the importance of vaccinating students to ensure that everyone returns to school safely. We look forward to further strengthening this cooperation by completing the second dose of vaccination for future students. The school year,” he said.

A five-day second injection is planned to begin on August 24.

Saoud Khoory, Chief Retail Officer of Aldar Investment, added: “The collaboration with the Pop-up Vaccination Center partners demonstrates a shared vision among all Abu Dhabi organizations that support the national vaccination campaign and the return of safety to normal.”

Students 16 years and older who choose to return to school for face-to-face learning must be vaccinated. In addition, from August 20, public and private schools, nurseries and universities will be restricted to vaccinated individuals. However, the decision does not apply to unvaccinated individuals who have obtained a vaccine exemption through the approval process and registered on the Al Hosn app, nor does it apply to people 15 years and younger.
