Abu Dhabi: Want to sell products online or on social media? Here’s how to apply for a Tajer eCommerce license.

Tajer was launched in 2017 by the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED). You can start a business without a physical office space for three years and apply for over 1,000 ADDED approved business activities.

Also, if you want to recruit employees for your new business, under the “Tajer” license, you can apply for a work permit for three employees.

According to ADDED, entrepreneurs with existing licenses can add their online trading activities to their current licenses, or obtain new licenses to conduct business through websites and social media networks. However, this license does not only apply to online economic activities, but can also be extended to other commercial activities.

According to the ADDED Customer Happiness Centre, any UAE resident holding a UAE pass can apply for the permit.

What activities can I apply for?

The license includes more than 1,000 activities, ranging from the sale of office equipment and furniture to fragrances, clothing and crystal products. How do you apply for a “Tajer” e-commerce license?

The official platform for the application site is TAMM, the official online government platform of Abu Dhabi.

To request a license, visit this link: https://www.tamm.abudhabi/en/life-events/individual/Start-a-Business/Commerce-Industry/RequestforIssuingEconomicLicenceAbuDhabiTrader and use your Emirates Pass.

You will then be asked to provide certain details of the type of business you wish to set up, including the following:

1. Type of Law (LLC, Sole Proprietorship, etc.)
2. The business activity you want to engage in
3. Your preferred business name

You will then be required to upload certain documents, which may vary due to business activities and type of law You have chosen for your business. Depending on your business activities, you may also need to seek further approval from a government entity.

After submitting the required documents, ADDED will review your application. Once approved, you need to pay the required fees, after which the economic license will be issued and available for download. You will be notified about the status of your application as it goes through the various stages of approval.

According to ADDED, this is the cost of Tajer’s e-commerce license:

•AED 790
• You can add up to six activities with this license. According to ADDED, each additional activity will cost AED 100.
