Tayba Al Hashemi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2022 and CEO of ADNOC Sour Gas, said this year’s show ushered in a new era as the country strengthens its global leadership in the future of energy.

In an interview, Al Hashemi noted that the event comes at a time when the global economic and geopolitical outlook is being challenged, strengthening the position of Abu Dhabi and the UAE as a unifying and convening force at the global centre for dialogue and solutions on the future of energy.

Al Hashemi said: “ADIPEC 2022 brings the world together, inspires innovation and fosters collaboration to discuss and debate viable solutions that can meet both energy security and climate goals. Held only a week before COP27 in Egypt and a year ago in the UAE COP28, ADIPEC 2022 will play an important role in helping to foster cooperation and participation of industry in the global climate dialogue, ensuring it is realistic, inclusive and equitable.”

“This year we have brought together more senior industry leaders, global policymakers and innovators than ever before. Thought leaders will use the event to explore how to successfully undertake an incremental and pragmatic energy transition that benefits the climate and the economy We also look forward to welcoming new organisations to ADIPEC this year as we create an apolitical platform and reach a wider global audience representing the wider climate and energy transition discussions,” she added.

Talking about the speed of development of the exhibition, Al Hashemi said: “In ADIPEC’s 40-year history, it has grown from a regional trade show, to the world’s largest gathering of technology and innovation in the energy sector, to now an entire global industry advancing energy An important strategic platform for the future.

“By 2022, the event will return to pre-pandemic levels. We expect 150,000 visitors this week. Additionally, ADIPEC 2022 will be the most international ever, with more global government ministers Participate, more countries will participate.”

Al Hashemi stressed that ADNOC has been a pioneer in reducing carbon emissions and will continue to push the possibility of reducing the carbon intensity of its products. “We are developing competitive low carbon production and product portfolios such as natural gas and blue ammonia. We are investing and innovating to continuously decarbonise our production and through ADNOC, Taqa and Mubadala’s investments in Masdar, We are accelerating the emergence of a renewable and green hydrogen power plant,” she affirms.

The ADIPEC Chair highlighted that the global energy industry flagship event will welcome more than 1,200 speakers, including government ministers, business leaders and innovators from all corners of the world, to help answer questions on “The Future of Energy: Safe, Affordable and Sustainable continuous”.

Al Hashemi explained that the session will cover the long-term impact of geopolitics on the global economy and the energy industry, how to address Europe’s near-term energy supply challenges, and how industry can meet today’s energy needs while investing in energy systems for tomorrow’s.

“Recognizing that ADIPEC’s thought leadership provides the future of energy, influential organizations are participating in presenting the latest data and analysis. This includes the United Nations Environment Programme, which is publishing this year’s International Methane Emissions Watch report, and the World Petroleum Observatory, which is publishing this year. OPEC Outlook report,” she noted.

The ADIPEC Awards recognize innovators and disruptors in the global energy system, as well as more than 1,000 outstanding works from more than 60 countries around the world.
