ABU DHABI – Mariam Khalifa Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt, said the bilateral relationship between the UAE and Egypt is a model of closeness, noting that the UAE hosted the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Hosting COP27 with Egypt will foster joint climate action and support sustainable development plans in both countries.
In an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al Kaabi stressed that the relationship between the two countries is based on mutual respect and appreciation, affirming that they have deep historical ties, referring to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan. Al Nahyan here emphasizes that the revival of Egypt is the revival of the Arab region.
She added that Egypt was one of the first countries to recognize the establishment of the UAE, stressing that the bilateral relations between the two countries have made significant progress in several major areas in recent years, especially in the economic and trade areas, which have led to an increase in trade between the two countries to record levels .
Al Kaabi said the upcoming period will see further cooperation between the two countries, particularly Egypt hosting COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh and the UAE hosting COP28 in 2023.
She then highlighted the two countries’ eagerness to share climate change expertise related to risks and challenges facing various development sectors. The UAE is Egypt’s largest investor with more than 1,250 Emirati companies operating in the country.
She added that the two countries are producing vehicles by establishing a joint UAE-Egypt company that manufactures natural gas and gasoline-powered vehicles built by Egyptian laborers, localizing modern industrial technologies and training professionals as directed by the leaders of both countries. Given the investment potential of Egypt’s real estate sector, as well as the country’s infrastructure, energy and manufacturing projects, Emirati business leaders are investing in projects in Egypt’s new administrative capital and new Alamein.
Al Kaabi underlined the enthusiasm of the two countries to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations by organizing a large-scale celebration in Egypt under the theme “Egypt and the UAE – One Heart”.
She concluded that the celebration was an opportunity to highlight the deep-rooted ties and strong overall cooperation between the two countries, given the keenness of the leaders of both countries to strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation to all important areas.
