“This is a great blessing from Almighty God and all my friends and family, especially my husband Tanville who supports me,” Tara said.
She inherited this tradition from her family, who helped those in need in Mumbai. “I want to keep the tradition my parents gave me. My sisters Hemani and Reshma and my daughters Fatema and Zahra will learn and follow the same principles in the future, Insha Allah,” she added.
Tara believes that they are an important part of our lives and communities. “We must treat them well and celebrate with them. This is just to make them smile and spread happiness,” she said.
Other mothers and friends participated in the event. Social worker and advocate Sheila Thomas also participated in providing food for the laborers.
Sheela said that there are many donors in the UAE, and there is an abundance of food. Nothing can compare to poverty. “Blue-collar workers earn less and lack nutritious food,” she said. “When the pandemic hit, my children provided biryani, and there were 20 unpaid laborers without food, the idea came up.”
