CHARLOTTE – Carolina Fine Art, a local artist-run gallery selling original paintings, pottery, and more, is now open.
Located in the Cotswold Village at 300 Friendship Road, South Salon, this regional artist collaboration opens on November 1 and will feature regular hellos to artists and operate the gallery from Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm .
Last autumn, Carolina Fine Art opened at its new, more permanent Cotswolds location, followed by a successful launch in its temporary space in Dilworth.
“We are excited to help provide a venue to celebrate the work of local artists and hope that the Charlotte community will be able to visit this special gallery to confirm their support for local and original art,” said Amy Murphy Curlis, founder of Carolina Fine Art . “Galleries can be a destination and hopefully a space for community engagement, even though it’s primarily a place to buy local art. There’s something for almost any budget.”
Carolina Fine Art will host an opening reception on November 4th from 5-8pm.
Featured artists participating in Carolina Fine Art showcase their work and greet customers when they stop to shop. One artist the client met during the visit was Manuela Strada, an Italian-born artist who has lived in Charlotte for over 20 years.
“The beauty of this gallery model is that it’s collaborative, and we support each other,” Strada said. “I love meeting everyone who walks in and sharing information about the galleries, artists and paintings. I also want to get to know the visitors and help them connect with our art.”
Strada is also a member of the Supportive Oncology Unit at the Levin Cancer Institute, where she serves as an artist-in-residence for the Rehabilitation Art Program. She conducts weekly art classes and provides therapeutic art to patients, caregivers and staff.
The husband-and-wife team behind the gallery’s founding believes that art tells a story, and the local artist who created this piece is part of that particular story.
“We believe the Charlotte community will embrace Carolina Fine Arts,” said co-creator Sean Coolis. “When traveling outside of Charlotte, my wife Amy and I enjoy visiting local art galleries in other cities and want to help our local artists at home.”
