Morten Harket has a lot of new material ready for another solo album.
The a-ha frontman has a collection of songs about his “philosophical” thinking about politics, and could easily release a follow-up to 2014’s “Brothers.”
Another big theme is “love issues.”
He told Classic Pop magazine: “I have a lot of songs.
“I could have put some on ‘True North’ [a-ha’s comeback album], but not that place, there was already so much material on the table at that time. “
He added: “I started writing more lyrics myself and I’m very happy about that.
“There’s a political aspect, but there’s a philosophical point of view.
There are love issues: two people in a crowded room getting to know each other’s dynamics, and when you don’t know each other, suddenly you’re the only two people who know each other.
I find these mechanics interesting. “
The 63-year-old Norweigen singer admits his solo tunes are nothing like what he, Magne Furuholmen and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy wrote in the “Take On Me” band.
He added: “My songs are a bit different from a-ha. The spirit of a-ha is a collective effort, so our own songs all sound different.
“But what makes these new songs different from a-ha is up to everyone else.”
