Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will host the Oscars again

Jimmy Kimmel is ready to host the Oscars again, completing a trilogy that began with his chaotic “Envelope Door” ceremony.

The show’s producers said Monday that the late-night talk show host will host the ceremony in March.

“We are very pleased that Jimmy is able to score a hat-trick on this global stage,” executive producers and showrunners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner said in a joint statement.

“We knew he was going to be fun and ready for anything.”

Kimmel hosted the show twice, in 2017, when he managed the chaotic final moments in which the wrong best picture winner was called the wrong best picture winner, and then the following year, when #MeToo reckoned only months.

“Being invited to host the Oscars for the third time is either a huge honor or a trap,” Kimmel said.

“Anyway, I’m grateful that the Academy asked me so quickly after everyone said no.”

After Kimmel hosted the 90th Academy Awards in 2018, the Oscars were without a host until the 94th ceremony earlier this year, with Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda · Sykes performed on the same stage.

“Jimmy is the perfect host to help us honor the outstanding artists and films of the 95th Academy Awards,” added Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang.

“His love of film, live TV expertise and ability to connect with global audiences will create unforgettable experiences for our millions of viewers around the world.”

Molly McNearney, co-writer and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live! He is married to Kimmel and will also serve as executive producer of the Oscars.

The ratings have been a bit of a roller coaster for the venerable Hollywood awards show. The 94th Academy Awards saw an audience of 15.36 million, but that’s what many coronavirus-modified awards ceremonies have suffered compared to the previous year’s record lows.

As always, ratings are critical for broadcaster ABC.

“We love being the venue for Hollywood’s biggest night and can’t wait to toast this year’s film and storytelling success.”

The next event is the show’s landmark anniversary year and the first to follow “Slap,” in which Will Smith hits host Chris Rock on stage.

Smith, who went on to win Best Actor that night, was therefore banned from the Oscars for 10 years.

The group’s leadership said they wanted to get rid of the slap and focus on the ceremony celebrating the film.

The 95th Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on March 12 and will be broadcast live on ABC in more than 200 territories around the world.
