Reem Emirates Saudi wins contract to build facade and roof shell of new Saudi airport

[ad_1]

Saudi Arabia Red Sea Global has appointed UAE-based Reem Emirates Saudi company to Red Sea International (RSI) AIRPORT.

The airport will be powered entirely by renewable energy, with operating and general maintenance costs estimated at SAR 1 billion ($266.3 million).

Red Sea International is designed to have shaded areas and natural ventilation, minimising reliance on air conditioning.

It will have five mini terminals, reducing energy use by shutting down certain areas during periods of slow activity.

“Aesthetically, it draws inspiration from the forms of the surrounding desert, oasis and sea,” said John Pagano, chief executive of Red Sea Global Group.

“The roof shell that Reem Emirates Saudi will provide is exemplified by the dune-shaped pods radiating from the centre.”

Reem Emirates Saudi will employ energy efficient and environmentally friendly solutions in its façade design as well as structural engineering, fabrication and installation, all in line with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

Reem Emirates is known for providing energy efficient and environmentally friendly façade solutions to the construction industry in the region.

Red Sea International Airport will be the first and only airport in the region to have a water aerodrome, an open water area where seaplanes can land and take off.

It will also be able to service hydrogen-powered seaplanes.

Red Sea Global recently announced that Irish company data International will operate the airport under a deal worth close to 1 billion riyals.

The Irish company will provide services to simplify the integration of green technologies with waste and resource management, in compliance with sustainability, safety and security requirements.

Red Sea Global and the Irish company are working together to gain certification under the Airport Carbon Certification Scheme offered by Airports Council Europe International.

They intend to achieve the highest standard, 4+, which will help Red Sea International become the first new airport to do so before operations begin.
