UAE’s first facility of its kind aims to develop their athletic, social and interpersonal skills

A new gym has opened in Abu Dhabi.

Social Contribution Authority – Ma’an on Thursday opened the “Desert Shield” gym for the determined in Port Zayed, Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Naha, chairman of the agency’s board of directors Yang was present. Zayed High Organization (ZHO).

With a diverse and inclusive sporting programme and an active community programme, the gym is the first of its kind in the UAE and will provide an ideal venue for people of determination to develop their athletic, social and interpersonal skills.

The gym is a successful partnership between the public, private and third sectors, with Maan supporting the project through its grants program and having been awarded the Maan Society certificate.

Desert Shield focuses on enhancing the lives of PoDs, enhancing their well-being and integration into mainstream society.

Salama Al Ameemi, Director General of Ma’an, said: “Empowering people of determination is a priority for the Ministry of Community Development, and the launch of Desert Shield Gym demonstrates our determination to advance social enterprise and accelerate innovation to address societal challenges.

Dr. Layla Alhyas, Executive Director of the DCD Community Development Unit, praised the Ma’an authorities for launching the gym, which aims to strengthen people’s determination and ensure their participation in a variety of fields – including educational, cultural, social, and vocational.
