WAXHAW – Beginning in mid-November, the town of Waxhaw is gearing up for several fun events downtown this holiday season.
Scheduled for Friday, November 18, the holiday lighting in downtown Waxhaw will be on for the holidays. Downtown businesses will be open from 5-8 p.m. for some early holiday shopping, while glittering holiday lights will come on as it gets dark. Stop by the community corner under the tank for morels and a holiday photo booth.
Next week, the Town of Waxhaw will be attending a small business event on Saturday, November 26th. Locally owned shops and restaurants throughout the town will be open, encouraging the community to shop and dine locally. Downtown businesses will offer fun “local shop” swag for shoppers and elves on shelf scavenger hunts.
On Saturday, December 10, from noon to 4 p.m., visit downtown for the first-ever Touch-a-Truck event with Santa. Santa will visit the corner of the community under the water tank with friends from the police, fire and public works departments. Families can see several large security cars and take pictures with Santa. Downtown businesses will host candy cane scavenger hunts with prizes for families who visit each business.
The popular Waxhaw Christmas Parade returns in the city centre on December 11th at 3pm. This year’s theme is “Joy and Light,” and community businesses will host marching bands and floats. Many downtown shops and restaurants will be open, so don’t forget to grab lunch and shop before the festivities begin.
“The holidays are a special time for downtown Waxhaw,” said downtown director Ashley Nowell. “Christmas lights and special events create such a wonderful small town feel. There are so many opportunities to support local businesses this season.”
