The UAE consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, has issued a safety advisory to citizens of the country that reportedly killed four people and injured 38 after an explosion on the city’s popular pedestrian Istiklal Avenue on Sunday.

Authorities called on citizens to stay away from the blast site and the surrounding Taksim area, and urged them to follow safety instructions issued by Turkish authorities.

In case of emergency, residents can contact the consulate on 0097180024 or 0097180044444.

The cause of the explosion is unclear. A video posted online showed flames erupting and loud noises as pedestrians turned to flee.

Other footage showed ambulances, fire trucks and police at the scene. Social media users said stores were closed and the boulevard was closed.
