(Newark, NJ) — Eight-time Grammy-winning superstar Anita Baker, female singer, A special show date for 2023 has been announced. The Songstress tour, produced by Live Nation, kicks off February 11 at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, and will take her to 15 cities with stops in Baltimore, Atlanta, Houston, and more. Locally, her trip will be to the Prudential Center in Newark on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
The tour celebrates Baker’s 40th anniversary as a music icon in the industry since the release of his debut album, female singer, Issued in 1983. These dates mark her first full-scale tour since 1995, and the first live performance of her classic hits since The Songstress won her master’s rights.

Born in Toledo, Ohio, and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Baker was one of the most beloved soulful folk singers of the calm storm of the 1980s. Baker began her career with the funk band Chapter 8 in the late 1970s, releasing her first solo album The Songstress in 1983. She shot to fame in 1986 with the release of her platinum-selling second album, Rapture, which included the Grammy-winning single “Sweet Love.” Baker has won eight Grammys and has four platinum and two gold albums. Baker is an alto with a vocal range that extends her range to at least three octaves.
