The Ukrainian military command announced that the liberation operation of Kherson launched at the turn of August and September was successfully completed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in the city for a flag-raising ceremony in front of the city’s administrative building. However, intense fighting continued on other fronts.

Polish Academy opens in Kyiv

Poland and Ukraine cooperate in ways that go beyond humanitarian and military efforts. Cooperation between the two countries also has symbolic and cultural significance, as the Polish Institute in Kyiv is celebrating its inauguration. Leaders from around the world are starting to arrive in Bali, Indonesia, as preparations for the G20 summit are complete. The theme of this year’s talks is “Recover Together, Recover Strong”.

EU foreign ministers meet to discuss sanctions on Russia, Iran

Foreign ministers from across the European Union gathered in Brussels on Monday for a meeting devoted to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, the situation in the western Balkans and possible new EU sanctions on Iran. Ministers also took part in informal talks with Belarusian opposition leader Svyatlana Tsikhanuskaya.

Bundeswehr to deploy in Lithuania, but Vilnius expects more

The German foreign minister announced that the German brigade sent to Lithuania will only be partly stationed in the Baltic states. During its 30th edition, the festival will present more than 220 films and attract VIP guests directly from Hollywood, providing audiences with an unforgettable experience.

Heart of Europe beats in Warsaw

Camerimage isn’t the only film festival in Poland this week. The Heart of Europe Film Festival, which focuses on Central and Eastern European artists, opened in Warsaw on Monday. The second annual Heart of Europe Film Festival films will be divided into five categories and evaluated by judges from eight different countries. The event will conclude with a final awards ceremony on Thursday. Viewers in Central and Eastern Europe will, however, be able to watch all submissions for free until the end of November.
