Abu Dhabi: The sixth season of the Abu Dhabi T10 has brought in some of the most exciting talent in cricket while bringing in franchises from the US to make it an 8-team competition.
Morrisville SAMP Army is one of two new teams that have made clear their intention to compete, selecting a strong squad and appointing experienced former South African legend Jonty Rhodes as a mentor. Rhodes will team up with his former teammate, best friend, and head coach Lance Krusenner, expressing that he is looking forward to what new challenge it will be for him.
“One of the real benefits of my role in SAMP Army is that I am not limited to just being in a mentoring role on the team. I also want to add value at the grassroots level. Presence in India and North America Well, that’s a good one for me opportunity, I hope to add value,” Rhodes said.
“I look forward to doing more with the SAMP Army franchise under the leadership of Ritesh Patel and Madhukar Shree.”
The former South African ace went on to explain that his role as a mentor will come down to addressing some of the bigger picture issues in high-intensity tournaments.
“T10 is the fastest form of the game and as a mentor I look at the bigger issues. The coaching staff can understand the game and every ball. But as a mentor you’re not looking at a specific event, you’re trying to use your experience to help and allow players to do what they do best.”
“Sometimes you don’t have to, but sometimes coaches and players might need to ask you for advice, and I feel like that’s a role I can totally play.”
Rhodes, one of the most feared names in the last decade of the last decade, also spoke about how the game has evolved since his days as a player.
“We’re very interested in using technology to help us train and understand our opponents. So in that sense, we were one of the first teams to adopt technology and I’ve always believed that in the ever-changing landscape of sport and basketball The ball is really evolving. So T10 has been around for a while, and in many places it’s a very popular format because it takes less time.”
“The best players want to play in this tournament and we have some of the best players in the business coming to T10 Abu Dhabi and that’s what you really want to see.”
It’s great to have someone as experienced as Jonty join the Samp Army globally. His experience and depth of knowledge will definitely help our franchise to the next level, said Ritesh Patel, Owner, Samp Army.
