The United Arab Emirates set a goal of 177 for Nepal in the third match of the bilateral one-day international series at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Friday.
Nepal won the toss and called the visitors to bat first. The UAE played all 50 matches, scoring 176 runs and conceding nine wickets.
An impressive performance by the Nepali bowlers broke the UAE’s batting order in the initial overs, with opener Mohammad Wasim 11 behind by Aasif Sheikh’s 1.2 overs in Gulsan Jha’s bowl.
Capitalizing on a good start, Sompal Kami took down Vriitya Aravind with a duck in the third over. Jha came back to bowl and hit the wicket of UAE skipper Chundangapoyii Rizwan with the first ball of the fourth period. Rizwan contributed four points for his side.
Rohan Mustafa and Arishan Sharafu tried to stabilize the visitors’ innings but both were sent back after two turnovers. Mustafa was knocked out for 23.2 off Dipendra Singh Airi’s bowling by Kushal Bourtel after scoring 24 while Sharaf scored 33 in 69 overs , knocked down by Buertle in 25.4 overs.
Nepal were in a good position until the 32nd innings when Zahoor Khan was used up by a duck and needed only one wicket to limit the visitors total.
However, UAE’s Aayan Afzal Khan and Hazrat Bilal persevered, building an 83-run partnership. Khan scored 54 runs in 63 pitches, while Bilal added 20 runs on the scoreboard. Neither of them went out.
For Nepal, Jha, Airee and Bhurtel took two wickets each, while Kami and Lalit Rajbanshi took one each.
