The UAE has officially declared the last statutory holiday for 2022. The holidays of Dec. 1-3 — Remembrance Day and National Day — and Sundays off are four-day weekends for most residents.

Vacation List helps people plan their vacations better. In the UAE, a harmonized list for the public and private sectors ensures that employees receive the same number of days off.

Authorities have yet to publish an official list of holidays for 2023. However, harrij times Some numbers were crunched to list the most likely holiday dates for next year.

The Islamic holidays listed below are based on astronomical calculations and may change after viewing the moon.

January 1: Happy New Year!

The first statutory holiday of the new year is the first day of 2023. However, January 1, 2023 falls on a Sunday, which means there is no additional rest day. Those who don’t like Sunday weekends will also get a day off to celebrate the New Year.

Eid al-Fitr

This Islamic festival is one of the longest holidays of the year. And in 2023, that will likely mean a four-day weekend for residents.

According to the Hijri calendar, the dates are from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3.

According to astronomical calculations, Ramadan is likely to start on March 23, 2023 and last for 29 days. The first day of Eid al-Fitr is expected to be on Friday 21 April. This means that the holiday may begin on Thursday 20 April (corresponding date in the Islamic calendar: 29 Ramadan) and end on Sunday 23 April.

Arafah and Eid al-Adha

This holiday offers the longest vacation in 2023. The dates in the Islamic calendar are Dhul Hijjah 9 to 12.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society, expects Arafah Day to take place on Tuesday, June 27. Eid al-Fitr is held on the second day – Wednesday 28 June.

This means that the break will most likely be from Tuesday 27th June to Friday 30th June. If that’s the case, those with Saturday-Sunday off will get a six-day weekend.

Hijri New Year (Islamic New Year)

Muharram 1 marks the first day of the Hijri Islamic calendar. Rest days on the Gregorian calendar will be announced closer to the date.

The birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the 12th day of Rabi Al Awwal – the third month of the Islamic calendar. Rest days on the Gregorian calendar will be announced closer to the date.

Memorial, National Day

The UAE commemorates Anniversary and National Day holidays from December 1st to 3rd. In 2023, it will be a three-day weekend: Friday to Sunday.
