Ryan Reynolds Hopes To Make A Deadpool Christmas Movie ‘One Day’
The 46-year-old actor revealed that he was involved in a holiday saga about the Merc with a Mouth, but that project was shelved after Disney bought 20th Century Fox, though Ryan didn’t give up on the project eventually filming at some point. Hope in the future.
He told The Big Issue magazine: “Four years ago, [‘Deadpool’ co-writers] Rhett Reese, Paul Wernicke, and I wrote a Christmas movie starring Deadpool. But it got lost in the shuffle of Disney’s acquisition of Fox and was never made.
“Maybe one day we’ll do that movie. It’s not a musical, it’s a full Deadpool Christmas movie. So one day.
Ryan will next be involved in the production of “Deadpool 3”, and is very happy that Hugh Jackman has “six years in a row” invited Hugh Jackman to agree to return to play Wolverine in the film.
He added: “In the end it was Hugh who said, ‘I think I’m ready to come back.’
“All we had to do was sell it to (producer) Kevin Feige, and it didn’t take long, and the next thing you knew we were coming.”
Filming has yet to begin on Deadpool 3, but Sean Levy will direct the sequel, with Red and Paul writing the script.
Rhett has previously told fans not to be “concerned” about a possible Disney adaptation of a third film after Disney bought its producer, 20th Century Fox.
But he added: “Now speaking of a particular joke, if we cross the line, maybe at some point we’ll hear, ‘Maybe it’s not that joke.’
“But I think they’re very supportive of what we’re doing because obviously we’ve been doing it independently of them for a long time, and I think they’ve seen success and they’ve had more success themselves. So hopefully it’s going to be a marriage made in heaven. But we definitely have their support and it’s a great feeling.”
