Camila Cabello originally auditioned for The Voice.
The 25-year-old pop star first rose to fame as part of girl group Fifth Harmony in “The X Factor USA” in 2012 before embarking on a solo career, but revealed her first success came through an audition for her current role Judges for a rival talent show.
She said: “The truth is – I actually auditioned for ‘The Voice.’ I wasn’t even sure I could tell the story. I did make it as a producer, not a TV show. I never did it for The coach has auditioned!”
The “Don’t Go Yet” hitmaker went on to explain that she ultimately decided not to continue with “The Voice” because she’s a big fan of boy band One Direction – their UK version of “The X Factor” are grouped together’ – and hope to meet them.
She told Access Hollywood: “Then I was like, I really want to meet One Direction, and I know they’re going to be performing for ‘X Factor.’ So I was like, ‘I just want to take a risk, not do it'” The Voice ’ and auditioning for ‘X Factor’. Then I ended up with One Direction! It was a pretty crazy move!! It’s been like a magnet though, but I’m destined to come back.”
Camila performed “Havana” on The Voice earlier this year, along with fellow judges Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton and John Legend, and admitted it was a “very cool” experience .
She said: “They’re such amazing artists, I’m almost embarrassed they’re singing my song. But it’s really cool. We do like a quick 15-minute rehearsal [during lunch], which is cool because we don’t have time to think too much.The next day we execute it, we run it a few times and then we [filmed] it. “
