ABU DHABI, 23rd November, 2022 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi will host the Ken-Ken International Championships 2022, the world’s largest math puzzle tournament. The tournament, to be held at Khalifa University on December 17, 2022, will be organized in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Residents’ Office (ADRO), marking the first time the event will be held outside the United States.
The hosting of this international championship in Abu Dhabi for the first time is the result of ADRO’s continuous efforts to bring prominent and professional events to Abu Dhabi to reinforce the emirate’s position as a leading and capable destination for major events across all sectors and fields.
Furthermore, the hosting of this tournament is a direct reflection of ADRO’s commitment to participate in groundbreaking international events that underscore the UAE’s status as the destination of choice for international talent to live, work and develop. In addition to showcasing the opportunities available to the international community in Abu Dhabi, enabling them to reach their maximum potential within a stable and progressive ecosystem.

The annual KenKen International Championships attract students of all ages and encourage school and university students to actively use their intelligence and skills. The tournament’s name was inspired by the world-famous Japanese puzzle game “KenKen” or “Kendo,” which was featured in more than 150 newspapers around the world, including The New York Times and The Times. Puzzle books for the popular game have sold over a million copies to date.
KenKen puzzles are designed to increase the player’s intelligence. In a dedicated survey, 92% of participants said that KenKen improved their logical thinking skills, and 84% said it helped improve their problem-solving skills.
