Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates—— abundant freedom and Faith Dassault Members of the Sun Devil Triathlon Team are out of the country for the holiday week as they compete in the U23 Elite at the 2022 World Triathlon Championships in Abu Dhabi.
The pair will play for Team USA on Friday, November 25 at 7:30 am local time and Thursday, November 24 at 8:30 pm Arizona time. Olympic distance events, The race distance is twice that of a college track. It will start with a 1.5km swim, then finish with a 40km bike trek and 10km run.
“This has been the mission of Sun Devil Triathlon since the program began preparing young women to excel in the classroom and in triathlon at the collegiate, national and international levels,” said Head Coach cliff english Say. “We are delighted to have two players on our team battling it out on the world stage at the U23 World Championships in Abu Dhabi. We wish these Sun Devils who have made a name for themselves in triathlon competition the best of luck!”
The championship finals are the highlight of the annual world triathlon calendar, as the multi-day triathlon festival is expected to welcome thousands of local, regional and international triathletes to the UAE capital.
Last month, the Sun Devils wrapped up the 2022 season with their sixth national championship trophy. Veteran captain Rica was a runner-up in the 2022 NCAA College Tournament and was most recently the U.S. U23 National Champion. Dassault is a poised newcomer who has enjoyed global success, as she finished on the podium at the Youth Elite Cup in Europe and Canada, and represented the U.S. team in Uruguay’s 2022 World Cup last month. Second place in the American Triathlon Championships.
