Afghanistan: Malala Yusufzai urges world leaders to take urgent action to protect people-News

[ad_1]

Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai said she is deeply concerned about the situation in Afghanistan, especially the safety of women and girls, and called on Monday World leaders take urgent action.

Yusufzai said that Biden “has a lot to do” and must “take bold steps” to protect the Afghan people, adding that she has been trying to contact several global leaders.

“This is actually an urgent humanitarian crisis and we need to provide help and support,” Yusufzai told BBC News Night.

Yousafzai, 24, survived a shot in the head by a Pakistani Taliban gunman in 2012, after she was targeted for her efforts to oppose the rejection of women’s education.

When she was 11 years old, under the pen name of BBC, she wrote a blog about life under the rule of the Taliban in Pakistan.

“I am deeply concerned about the current situation in Afghanistan, especially the safety of women and girls there,” Yusufzai told News Night.

“I had the opportunity to talk to some activists in Afghanistan, including women’s rights activists, who shared their concerns about not being sure what their lives would look like.”

Yusufzai said that she has sent a letter to Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan asking him to accept Afghan refugees and to ensure that all refugee children “can receive education, security and protection, and their future will not be lost.”

Yousafzai moved to the UK after being shot and received treatment there. He graduated from Oxford University last year with a degree in philosophy, politics and economics.
